New Footprinters chosen, Otjikondo donation and Namibia Calling

Gilly

Huge developments have been taking place since the last update along with the regular HFT work of supporting Gappers and helping out with the running of Otjikondo School in Namibia.

Firstly we have chosen 10 more youngsters to support this autumn with their Gap Year as they go all over the world to help in educational projects in developing countries so go onto the Reports page and read all about their hopes and aspirations for their trip.

Otjikondo got an extra financial help of £4,000 as well as their regular annual £6,000 as a boost to help out with their 20th anniversary celebrations. They were a huge success with visitors and ex-gappers making the pilgrimage to Namibia to help Gilly and Reiner and all those at Otjikondo celebrate their fantastic achievement of starting up and running such a fantastic school in the middle of the African bush.

Part of the anniversary events included the writing and publishing of a book “Namibia Calling” by Michael Schurr (ISBN 978-3-941602-61-8) all about Reiner and Gilly’s life and we went down to Durham for the English version launch, which Gilly had come over for. A good read to see what can be achieved by two people singing from the same hymn sheet with a strong determination to succeed and give something back.

You can read an extract of the book here.
