The New Year brings new students applying for sponsorship. Team Kenya is currently campaigning to send 20 girls to school with the #TeamKenya20 campaign. Check it out on our Facebook, Twitter and website www.teamkenya.org.uk
We are all extremely happy with the support provided by Hazels Footprint Trust and we have some good news!
Two of our tutors are now off to University!
Meet Calvince
Calvince is now in University studying to be a teacher. We know he will do a great job! Calvince scored a B in his KCSE to gain direct entry to University.
Meet Esline
Esline is now in University studying Environmental Science. Esline scored a B+ in her KCSE to gain direct entry to University.
Thanks to sponsorship Esline and Calvince will now have a bright future. The support from HFT has also helped them get to where they are now. They both received support from the homework club funded by HFT. This gave them time to study with support from a tutor, have access to useful resources and a meal so they could concentrate on their studies without going hungry. Calvince and Esline then went on to tutor their fellow students to give back to the organisation that supported them through their schooling. This is a sentiment shared by Education officer Bonface (see below)
Team Kenya sponsored me as a student at school, and they kept sponsoring me through college and my university degree in Teaching. They then hired me to work as their Sponsored Student Co-ordinator.
I have seen many sponsored students achieve good grades and I have become a role model for many of them to follow. I encourage the students when they have finished their studies to come back to Team Kenya to repay the help they received. I have also helped to get our first large group of students to university by sourcing good universities, finding places for them to stay whilst they are studying and making sure they have enough money for food and course materials.
I want to ensure that Team Kenya can continue to provide sponsorship to students for future generations through an alumni scheme

Lunch break
Many of our students live in rural areas and have to trek a long way on foot, often on an empty stomach, so the lunch programme is of great benefit to them when they are studying at Karibuni.
Here are our current group of students who benefit from your support. We are eagerly awaiting the results of the Form 4 students in Feb/March to see if they too can progress to University just like Esline and Calvince. In the meantime they are all actively participating at Karibuni, helping the younger students and getting involved in Youth Group projects like bead making, poultry keeping and selling solar lamps. All of these projects were set up to help with their education.
