Hazel’s Footprints is excited to be supporting The Vipingo Village Fund in Kenya with a £10,000 grant. Here’s a little bit more about the work they do.
The Vipingo Village fund, which built, funds and operates Future Hope Montessori School, is a small, family run, UK registered charity that supplies all the needs from education, health care, daily nutritious food to fun, stimulation and providing a window onto the outside world, for 123 totally destitute children, all of whom are in some way HIV/AIDS affected.
Through the dedication of our staff, Trustees and Founders, Carol & the late Peter Hardman, whos untimely death was a bitter blow, we have achieved nothing short of a miracle! A cost effective, well run school, with very high educational standards that is now being used as a blueprint for International Aid Agencies when they place their volunteers overseas. Future Hope is an extremely happy place where the children are encouraged to learn using all the excellent resources available to them. It is an oasis in the midst of poverty and ignorance.
Our motto is Education changes Nations and every Wednesday we run a DVD club for the guardians so their knowledge is also expanded. Workshops for the local community are an essential part of our overall ethos and we take adult literacy, HIV awareness, birth control and other business matters such as micro financing, interview skills and IT very seriously. It is only through raising the level of the whole community that standards will be improved. This has been made possible through our funded Australian Red Cross volunteer, Zoe, who sadly, due to the increase in security problems, has had to leave Kenya and for which VVF is now trying to find funding to bring her back!
We exist solely through the generosity of others and as you Fling yourselves around the dance floor having a wonderful time, you are doing an incredible thing.you are giving a child in Kenya a future and helping change the face of a country.
