Support us through fundraising
We are delighted when our supporters deciding to do some fundraising on our behalf. It really does make a huge difference to the work we can do in education in developing countries. Fundraising can take many forms, can be small-scale or large-scale, individual or group, on one day or over a period of time. Every penny counts, and every effort is greatly appreciated.
Previous fundraisers have organised events (the Footprinter Balls, HFT Highland Flings), taken part in sponsored physical challenges (marathons, Everest Base Camp trek, cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End), or held sales (cakes and car boots!).
We’re grateful to the many people who have helped to support and raise awareness of Hazel’s Footprints Trust through their fundraising efforts. If you’ve got a fundraising idea then we’d love to hear from you. Inspiration from past fundraising efforts below!
JOGLE – 3 men attempt to ride from John O’Groats to Lands End
After a few beers, it seemed to Ben, Svet and Matt that it would be a good idea to ride from the northernmost point of mainland Britain to the southernmost. Not content with forming a drunken plan and letting it fade with the hangover, ‘JOGLE’ (John O’Groats to Lands End) went ahead, and all in the name of Hazel’s Footprints Trust.
- The time constraint: They only had 13 days.
- The support vehicle: They didn’t have one.
- The weather: The Borders in April are not renowned for their sunny spells.
- The Yorkshire 3 peaks fell walk: On their “rest day” in the middle, they took on the small, bonus challenge of 24 miles of fell walking.
The chaps raised £1,458 for Hazel’s Footprints Trust – Thank you!
CycleToCapeTown – 1 man’s attempt to cycle 17,000km in 6 months
Having long dreamt of travelling the length of Africa over land, at the age of 25 George bought a bicycle, handed in his notice and set off from Northamptonshire for Cape Town. Over 6 months later he’d made it!
George kindly chose to support Hazel’s Footprints Trust in undertaking this mammoth pedal-powered road trip.
What did George have to say?
“I’ve cycled under armed guard in Egypt, crossed deserts in Sudan, been harrassed in Ethiopia, cycled through bandit country in Kenya and lion country in Tanzania. I’ve pimped myself out as a bicycle taxi in Mozambique, dealt with the financial woes of Zimbabwe and survived hyenas around my tent in Botswana.”
Footprints Ball 2018
The Footprints Ball was held at Leas Cliff Hall in Folkestone on 9th of June 2018 in aid of Hazel’s Footprints Trust and Pilgrims Hospices. This was a pretty spectacular affair. The evening was billed as a “night of dinner jackets, dresses, drinks, dining and dancing with a Midsummer twist”. And, as it turned out, a serious commitment to donating! The Organising Committee put their hearts and souls into this event – drumming up raffle and auction lots, selling tables, booking entertainment and creating a truly beautiful venue for the night. We hope they are as proud of themselves as we are!
Funds raised: £17,740.77 for Hazel’s Footprints Trust and Pilgrims Hospices
