Otjikondo
The Otjikondo Village School Foundation has a place close to the heart of Hazel’s Footprints Trust. It is here that Hazel spent a hugely successful gap year in 2001-2 and two years later she was followed by her younger brother Peter.
The school is set in a beautiful corner of north-west Namibia in the Kunene Region. It comprises a farm and a boarding school for around 240 children, aged 6 to 14. The school’s motto is “One Step Forward”. Over the years, it has become one of the finest educational hubs in the area.
Ngambenyi
Our second Partner School is Ngambenyi Primary School in Kenya. The first investment in the school came in the form of the Trust’s largest-ever “Educational Project” – to build a whole, brand new school. We are incredibly proud to have funded the £110,000 build which took 18 months starting mid-2015. We worked with UK charity African Promise, who are responsible for operations on the ground. This project, and the ongoing support we provide through Ngambenyi’s Partner School status, has been possible thanks to our kind and generous supporters, in memory of Hazel. Here is the story of the school.
